After your credit rating rises you will qualify for cards at a better interest rate. Make sure your credit rating is established before you apply for more cards as this can get you into trouble.

So no matter what the reason is that you do not have good credit you can work to make it better. Keep paying your payments on time and keep your balance down. You can have a good credit rating with some hard work and effort.
